That stump isn't going anywhere on its own — hardwood stumps in this climate can sit for a decade. We grind them below grade so you can mow over the spot, replant it, or build on it.

Left alone, a stump is a trip hazard, a mower obstacle, and an invitation — carpenter ants, termites, and fungus all set up in dead wood, and none of them stay put once they're established near your house. Grinding takes the stump out several inches below grade, chips and all, and leaves a spot you can rake smooth and seed.
Stump grinding is priced mainly by diameter and count — one big oak stump or a dozen small ones from a lot clearing. It's often the cheapest part of tree work, and if we're already removing the tree, adding the grind while the equipment is on site saves you money over calling someone back later.
One thing we need from you: know roughly where your septic lines, water lines, and any buried utilities run. We check before we grind, and NC 811 marks public utilities free of charge.
Yes, with a deeper grind. A standard grind leaves shallow soil over old roots; tell us you want to replant and we'll grind deep enough to give a new root ball clean soil.
Your choice — left in the hole as fill, moved to your garden beds, or hauled off entirely. Leaving them is free; they make good mulch.
Tell us about your tree and we'll give you a straight answer and a fair price.
